And it'll wow you for hours. Play up to 5 hours of video or up to 24 hours of audio on a single charge. All that staying power and a wafer-thin, 6.5-mm profile makes iPod nano one small big attraction.

Cover Flow
If a picture says a thousand words, think of what all the album art in your collection might say. With Cover Flow on iPod nano, you can flip through your music to find the album you want to hear. Use the Click Wheel to browse music by album cover, then select an album to flip it over and see the track list.

In addition to listening to music you can now enjoy TV shows, movies, video podcasts, and more. View iPod nano dimensions.

Music
Use the Click Wheel to adjust volume, navigate songs, browse in Cover Flow, or explore the Music menu by playlist, artist, album, song, genre, composer, and more. Want to mix things up? Click Shuffle Songs. iPod nano makes your music look as good as it sounds, thanks to its bright color display.

Movies
Buy movies from the iTunes Store and you can sync them to your iPod nano to watch anywhere, anytime. Up to 5 hours of video playback means you can watch two movies back to back. And for your viewing pleasure, the 320-by-240-pixel display--with a whopping 204 pixels per inch--is 65 percent brighter than before.

TV Shows
There's always something good on iPod nano. Browse thousands of episodes of your favorite TV shows on the iTunes Store, buy them for just $1.99 each, then sync them to your iPod nano. Watch last night's episodes this morning, or buy a whole TV series and play a pocket-size marathon.

Podcasts
The iTunes Store features thousands of free video and audio podcasts, including indie favorites and offerings from such big names as ABC News, Comedy Central, ESPN, PBS, NPR, and many more. Browse and subscribe to podcasts, then sync them to your iPod nano. You can even play video podcasts on TV using an optional Apple component or composite AV cable.

Audiobooks
The digital shelves of the iTunes Store are stocked with thousands of audiobooks--including exclusives like the entire Harry Potter series--so you can catch up on your reading wherever iPod nano takes you. iPod nano even recognizes where you left off reading and bookmarks your place.

Games
Put hours of fun at your fingertips. iPod nano comes with three games--Vortex, iQuiz, and Klondike--and you can download more from the iTunes Store for $4.99 each. All iPod games are designed specifically for the iPod interface. And all of them look great on the 2-inch color display.

Photos
iPod nano holds up to 7,000 photos you can sync from your Mac or PC via iTunes. Use the Click Wheel to scroll through photo thumbnails. To see a photo full screen, click the center button. You can even view your photo slideshows--complete with music and transitions--on a TV using an optional Apple component or composite AV cable.

Extras
Calendars, contacts, and a screen lock appear in the Extras menu, along with a few more handy items. Take the world clock, for example. Spin the Click Wheel to choose different clocks for cities all over the world. For workouts, use the built-in stopwatch to log your best times.

5 out of 5 stars Ipod Nano   September 8, 2008
This product was picked out by my grandson for his 9th birthday and even though it was a better product then his dad had, (Older unit) we felt that he was old enough for it and with his mothers blessing we ordered it through Amazon.com which provided the best price and simplicity of ordering. The product arrived right on time and my grandson could not be happier...

3 out of 5 stars Wish I wasn't so Apple Dependent   September 8, 2008
Hard to believe I made it to 2008 without having an MP3 player. How did I survive? Dunno. Recently however I got lucky and received a hand-me-down IPod Nano (first generation) from a generous and rich sibling. Unbeknownst to him, the battery had been already lived way beyond it's capacity and had failed the first time I turned it on...But now that I was inducted into the MP3 owners society, I quickly drove like a maniac directly to the nearest Apple dealer to purchase this up to date current version. (we don't have a Apple store where I live, probably a good thing.) Now in retrospect, perhaps I was in too much of a hurry. After getting it home, ripping it out of all packing material, and then syncing my music, I realized I had a slight case of buyers remorse.
For one, I bought the smaller memory (4) and wish I splurged for a larger one (8) even if I never filled it all. (only 50 buckaroo's more) At least I'd have the option. Secondly, I should have researched a variety of new state of the art MP3 players, as many are filled with far more bells and whistles, (FM radio etc), are easier to use, and have larger memories for the same price as the Nano. (149.00 at most big box stores)
Part of my problem is that I have become Mac/Apple dependent and fear any gadget that isn't an Apple, worrying it won't be as compatible with my G5 and software. After being forced to upgrade to the latest version of ITunes or my new Nano would not operate, I noticed some new bugs and glitches on top of the old bugs that really aggravated me. I dislike the fact that I have to load an entire album to Itunes instead of being able to load a song or two to my Ipod. That takes too much time. Also, when I delete songs on the Nano, Itunes was skipping some and deleting some I didn't delete...and each time taking me back to the start of the music page...
But in all fairness, this is a review about the Nano, so let me continue without giving you my rants about Apple's software problems.
On a final note, the player is hard to manipulate with the thin silicon cover I purchased . Why doesn't Apple come up with a surface that doesn't scratch so darn easily? You'd think by now they'd realize this metal casing is prone to chipping and scratching. Or is that merely a careful and thought out ploy to get us to buy a new one every year?

But then again, for someone who didn't have a player for all these years, and will be reimbursed by the nice relative for this one, I shouldn't complain so much. At the rate I'm going maybe I'll have an IPhone by next year...wishful thinking.

4 out of 5 stars A great little iPod for those on the run   September 7, 2008
I bought this iPod as a gift, as a matter of fact, I have purchased over a dozen of them for gifts, both business and personal. Everyone loves an iPod (or so it seems to me). I bought this one in pink (again, it was for a gift) and even though I am sure that Apple is coming out with a newer one with more memory and probably a lower price I choose this one because:

* It is great for those who run or walk a lot. It fits on an arm-band better that some of the longer and larger models

* The screen is big enough for most purposes. It is good for song info, pictures and ever a short video. For movies I prefer my iTouch with it's larger screen

* Price. Even if they come down this one is still a good value

iPods are fun, and this one is even more fun that my iTouch because it is smaller and cute. How many electronic gadgets can you say that about?

5 out of 5 stars iPod Nano   September 7, 2008
I love this player :) Nothing bad to say at all.
Only wish it came with bigger space...

5 out of 5 stars I love my Apple IPOD Nano 3rd G   September 6, 2008
I totally recommend this ipod...the sound is great as well as the clarity on the screen for my photos...
