worked 3 days August 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this boombox for use at an event last year. I used it for 3 days. Last year I would have given it 4 stars, but unfortunately, I attempted to use it for the same event this year (1 year later) now I would give it a zero. The speakers won't work for iPod or Radio. There is still power, since the iPod charges. But, nothing comes out of the speakers. I question the quality of iHome after having to return a clock radio for a replacement after 6 months, and now this iHome boombox. So 2/3 iHome products were defective.
Can't really complain for 50 bucks.. May 29, 2008 i've had mine only a few days however i bought my used and i haven't experienced problems. For me i needed something i can carry around and play music from my ipod. in most ipod players, they have to be stationary and the ipod is stinking out of the top where any slight bump could knock it over. This boom box keeps your ipod protected where there is no chance on you're ipod falling out. Its great for camping, going to the beach and anywhere you just want to be. this is truly a portable ipod player. i'll say that the only downside might be the sound quality and the fm radio. i haven't been able to listen to fm radio though i rather just listen to my ipod.
Reliability less than expected March 8, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought these speakers mainly for the flexibility of power supply: 110V AC, 12V DC, or C batteries. Other nice features are the enclosed iPod dock that provides a bit of protection, FM radio, and the remote. The sound is not too bad, and the price is right. However, the unit I got started failing after less than 3 months. When turned on, it would play OK for a few minutes, then emit a horrible screech and then only noise. Fortunately I bought it at Costco, so I was able to return it without any hassles (I threw away the original box.)
If you decide to get it, keep the original box for at least a few months.
Disappointed March 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was very disappointed in the company. They advertise it as compatible with Ipods and that it will charge them while in use. They don't tell you that it will not charge the latest Ipod models and that to even use it with them you have to purchase an additional item (which turned out to be a small piece of foam tape). Since I needed to use the boom box and Ipod where I did not have access to a computer, I had to purchase a separate Ipod charger.
An iPods Best Friend! January 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It's important to note that this Boom Box can play any MP3 player, but since I own an iPod, I'll review it from that perspective. The sound is clear with good tonal and bass levels. The placement of the iPod is ideal because it doesn't protrude from the top of the boombox. It sits safely in the front, where you can use your remote control to make it play what you want. It's built sturdy, and for a few extra bucks, you can buy a cloth container with a shoulder strap to make it easy to carry from one place to another. It also has FM capacity with preset buttons for your favorite radio stations. A definite must buy.
