The Humminbird PiranhaMax 240 uses a widest-coverage, tri-beam, with two 20-degree sonar beams and a 35-degree beam for 90-degrees of total coverage that operate on the 200 kHz and 45 kHz frequencies (respectively). This enables the 240 to cover a wider area to locate fish to the left and right of, as well as below, your boat, and provide more precise bottom detail. What's more, this fish finder is reliable down to a depth of 800 feet, and provides you with a target separation of only 2.5 inches. This unit utilizes a high-speed, microdynamic transducer that provides optimum performance even at top speeds, and includes water temperature via the transducer. first off, to be honest i'm a rookie when it comes to fish finders. i followed the instructions to the "t" and i had no problems installing the unit and it required no further adjustments after the test run. it works great, i can't believe the number of fish this thing picks up. i've been in water up to 165feet deep and it has no problem showing fish and what side of the boat they are on along with how deep they are. i gave the unit five stars because it does evrything that the desciption said it would do and i'm happy with it.
