I love this otoscope. The light is brighter than any of the professional otoscope I have ever used as a nurse practitioner. I love the neat snap shut case complete with pictures that I can fit nicely in my purse (never fails my son comes down with an ear infection every time we travel). I can see the ear drum very clearly with this otoscope which makes it easy to see the early signs of reddness when an infection is just beginning. The Led bulb and otoscope is guaranteed for life. I had bought a similar pocket otoscope from Walgreens last year that was more like a Fisher Price toy. It was made completely of plastic (this one is mostly all metal) broken and completely non functional in less than 3 months. It also didnt give nearly as clear a picture of the eardrum as this one and the light was much dimmer. Trust me you will be very happy with this otoscope especially when you consider the very reasonable price. I am sure you might be able to find a better otoscope out there but be prepared to pay a hundred or more dollars for anything even closely comparable to this one. Lisa Roberts RN

I love this product. I am driving my entire family crazy but I love being able to see in their ears with this thing. I cant believe how clearly I can see the eardrum. I can even see the little bone in the eardrum I remembered studying about in high school. I think it is called the staple. I can see my husbands, my teenage son, my 5 year old sons eardrum crystal clear. My infant daughter is a bit more of a challenge. Her ear canals are very small and she is very wiggly making it more difficult to get as clear of picture of the eardrum as I can get with the other members of our family. My husband has also used the otoscope on me and says he can see out the other side of my head....just teasing he also says my eardrum can be seen very clearly as well. Overall am I am very pleased with my purchase.

Overall I think this otoscope is great. It has an excelent design, the light is really bright and works well. My only dissapointment is that the focal length on the otoscope is too short to actually see the eardrum of myself or my wife, you simply can't insert it far enough, even with the smallest tip. You get a great view of the ear canal, but the eardrum remains just out of focus.
This is probably fabulous for kids, but with adults you might have a problem if you want to see all the way to the eardrum.

I can not tell you how impressed I am with this otoscope. It is exactly what I have been looking for and what you see in the ear is very clear. My daughter has had 3 sets of tubes placed in both her ears for chronic ear infections. Our ENT doctor in Atlanta had recommended this otoscope to us saying it was the best model out there for the price. I just love having the ability to monitor my daughters tubes and eardrums without wondering if the tubes are still functioning or if they have clogged up with debri. It gives me real peace of mind that I have never had before. I have also saved myself several trips to see the doctor because I can now look and see that everything is functioning ok. It also helps having a great physician who was willing to help teach me what to look for after the tubes were inserted to know whether or not they were open and functioning as intended.

I took this to my pediatrician and he said that it really wasn't good enough for me to diagnose an ear infection in my son. He said it took an expensive instrument and lots of experience. However, I think the photos are good and the instrument is worth the cost. I'm glad I bought it, but I'm not sure how much use it'll get.
