I am awaiting the arrival of this item. Although I originally checked here for this very handy item, I ordered from BH Photo, as the shipping was cheaper.
Shipping is always cheaper through other vendors. The reason for that is that amazon.com takes a bite out of you because you decided to trust them with your business.
For instance, this particular item is shipped from Adorama, but go to their site and you will instantly save $2 on shipping. Better yet, go to BH Photo and you will save $4.00 on shipping!
This happens time and again with amazon. In fact, there are some items (like memory cards and lens cleaner) for which amazon will actually have the nerve to charge $6 or $7 shipping **per item**! Go to the vendor sites and you will see that the vendor only charges the same $6 or $7 for all the items combined (i.e., buying 10 memory cards is $6 total for shipping, whereas you will pay $60 via amazon).
amazon has lost much of my business because of these greedy business practices. I still buy this and that (minor items) from them, but I spend my big money at other sites who actually display a little integrity.
I buy a lot of camera gear, which adds up to big money. amazon has lost this business and will likely not regain it.
So, my message to all is this: Buy from amazon when it is advantageous for you, but watch them like a hawk on their shipping prices when buying from their outside vendors. Shop around. I have done business with amazon for many years. It's unfortunate that have adopted the philosophy of squeezing every penny they can out of you (however they can).
Are you listening amazon? This is your wake up call. Wisen up!
