IF IT REMOTELY *LOOKS* LIKE THIS: DON'T! DON'T! DON'T!!! November 16, 2008 THIS IS A WARNING: REGARDLESS OF PRICE, BUY ONLY NAME BRANDS THAT YOU KNOW AND ARE FAMILIAR WITH AND CARRY A DECENT WARRANTY. THE MARKET IS OVERFLOWING WITH CHEAP GARBAGE MEMORY STICKS, MANY WITH LESSER CAPACITIES MODIFIED TO LOOK LIKE MUCH BIGGER CARDS. STEER CLEAR!
Same story.
*Looks* beautiful but DATA CORRUPTS IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE! This is true of ANY and ALL memory SIZES (8GB, 16GB AND 32GB) in this leather stick configuration. It's almost as if the stick reaches a certain point on the drive regardless of size and starts writing PURE CRAP.
Strangely, any file folders copied stay viewable and correct but it's only when you open the folder(s) THEMSELVES that you find corrupted data. Even worse, almost always, the card absolutely REFUSES to allow you to DELETE THE CORRUPTED FOLDER(S)AND DATA!
Donate your money to a charity instead of this usb drive June 12, 2008 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
As a PC tech support; I bought this very 32GB USB drive out of excitement of being able to consolidate all my diagnostic tools, utilities, and WinXP install image file into one usb stick with nice leather/metal cover. Boy! what a dream. Upon receiving this drive, I quickly copied all important files (over 4gb) from my laptop to the usb drive in preparation for a planned upgrade which required recreating the partitions. I witnessed for over 40-minutes as the files/folders were being copied via Windows explorer. Plus I dutifully ejected the usb drive thru the "safe remove" option. To my greatest surprise, when I finished with the laptop upgrade and tried to transfer my files back from the USB drive, surprise! surprise!! NOTHING was in it. I nearly ripped off my-own ears out of astonishment. First I concluded that may be I must have done something wrong. I went on to carry out several other copy test on two different PCs only to find out that the drive retained only some files when it is copied to the root but all folders were empty. FYI. this is my 4th usb drive but first to exhibit this kind of strange performance. ===So buyer beware and buy at own risk====
DON'T BUY THIS JUNK May 3, 2008 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I purchased the identical "Samsung OEM" USB Drive with the attractive leather/metal casing pictured on EBay, only it was 8GB. It was corrupted out of the box. Despite formatting and trying again several times, at least 50% of the files were corrupted. It's a shame because the accessories and the packaging are quite nice. I'm not getting a response from the seller so it looks like I'm out of luck...
Completely unreliable March 7, 2008 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
I had nothing but trouble with this flash drive. It corrupted most of the data files that I transferred to it. I reformatted it many times to no avail. Despite my best efforts it continued to corrupt and delete files. I have never seen so many heiroglyphic symbols in lieu of file names. To top it off the seller is practically non-existent. The one e-mail I received as a reply instructed me as to how to send it back. I did that and it was sent back to me unopened as Return to Sender with no reason given. My last 3 e-mails to the seller have gone unanswered. Now I am just trying to get my money back. Do not waste your time with this seller or this product.
Perfect File Dropper February 23, 2008 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
I was excited to get my first 32gb usb flash drive and the form factor of this one does not disappoint. However, after using it for about an hour, I noticed that all my files became corrupted - especiall when moving between machines and dealing with large iso images. I reformatting the drive on a Linux machine and Windows XP with different file systems only to find that it still dropped files in each case. Opening the drive case I found a solder bridge across the main memory chip indicating poor manufacturing quality and product testing. Terrible waste of money and time.
In short, this drive provides a terrific alternative to "The dog ate my homework."
