Bought this from Amazon as part of a package with an Asus Netbook. I originally figured I'd only use it for installing software (which it does just fine) but we mostly ended up using it to play movies when traveling. The netbook and drive fit nicely on the airline tray table or hotel night stand. The added weight and bulk is negligible and we don't need to lug the DVD player anymore.
Only "con" is that it requires two USB ports which can be a problem if you have a lot of other stuff to plug in. Throw a mini-hub in the bag if you do.

It works fine. I just don't like the way it loads and unloads the CD or DVD. You must actually place it on drive and pull/pop it off. I thought I was going to break the CD, it was so difficult to pull off.
