I have other Toshiba portable drives that have lasted me for years, that I have dropped - while they were plugged in and actively transferring data ... and they have continued to run like a champ. Well - not this one. I uploaded a few files on this one - and then - Bad block errors, controller errors - you name it - and I did not even touch the drive while it was blinking away to glory.
Did I mention I have had this drive for less than three days?
Well - the only difference I found between this one and the other drives is that the others were made in Thailand or Japan - this one's from China. Well - you can make your own conclusions - but I would suggest that you avoid this drive like the plague. Unreliable piece of junk ...

Its a great product, its portable, light, plus very nice design and shape of the device. Its has a exc transfer rate with computers running vista, windows 7 or linux.
Its not as good with computers running some versions of windows xp, because the operating system runs indexation of the entire drive so this takes a while, depending on how much data you have.
Overall it is all i expected, plus i like the colors.

This Toshiba 500 GB works great, just simply put the USB in and it will ask if you would like to install. you have the option of how you would like to install the external drive,from a back up drive or just extra memory or both. the drive is also thin, light, and small. which makes it great for carring it around for trips or business. its also fair price then most other drives. so if you looking for a good portable external hard drive i recommed this one.
