LOVE this computer!!!!November 23, 2008 I've had this netbook now for 2 months. Only problem i've had is with the drives for the wi-fi card. When you put the computer into standby mode and then bring it back the wi-fi moves slow. All you have to do is disable the card and restart it and works just fine. There is also a driver update on acers website to fix this problem. Other than that i LOVE this computer. Love the fact that it comes with windows XP as i hate vista, along with most other people. The 160gb hard drive is very nice as well. I have all my music and videos loaded on it and it still has alot of room which makes this very handy for transporting just about anything. I would highly recommend getting this model with the6 cell battery. I have been getting as advertised 5 to 5.5 hours of battery life. So much better than my full size laptop. Yes the keyboard is small but once you get used to it its not that bad at all. No cdrom drive but really who needs it anymore since you can download about anything from the net. All in all i am very very happy with this computer and with the small size, light weight and long battery life i take it about everywhere with me unlike my other laptop. Highly recommend!!!!!!
Acer Aspire One ReviewNovember 23, 2008 Well built and works great. Love it. Take it every where. Like the size of the keyboard, very usable.
Acer Aspire One 8.9-inch Mini Laptop (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) SNovember 23, 2008 I have had this computer about a month and love it. I am a teacher who needed a laptop that I could carry back and forth to school and could do my school work on (grades, type tests, make lesson plans, etc.). My Aspire One does it all and more. I loaded Office 2007 and run it with no problems including heave duty math equations. I get over 5 hours of battery use between charges. I love the price.
my first netbook pcNovember 23, 2008 Nice shiny white, very portable laptop. It came with WindowsXP and that works fine. Good for anything that doesn't require too much processing power. But the remote tv player (sling) works excellent on this little beauty, even in hd. Everything I installed so far works. I use it for 1 month now. 160 GB hd and it does read my 8GB SD memory card. 3 USB ports. Obviously the screen is small. Don't stare at it too long or your eyes will start hurting. But it's probably better than using a PDA for too long. The F11 key, to maximize the screen, is the first key I press when I connect to the internet. The speakers are obviously tiny as well. Battery life is not bad, I think it holds power for at least 3 hours. I have not compared this with other netbooks, but I think it was a good investment.
Full featured laptop in a small packageNovember 23, 2008 I read all the reviews, researched all the competitors and decided on the Acer Aspire One. The Acer Aspire One is a complete notebook computer in a small package. The computing power, hard drive capacity and features allow me to run any Windows application I need. I teach computer science and do software development and it is great to have s super portable computer with so much power. I was going to purchase the Asus eePC until I had an opportunity to try an actual computer and discovered I did not like the keyboard layout on the Asus. When I got a change to try an Acer I was sold. I can touch type on my Acer with no problems. The keyboard is a little smaller than normal but the key layout is perfect.
There is a variable speed fan so if you are looking for a totaly noise free computer this is not it but the fan is no different than any of my other laptops. The mouse buttons are located on the side of the mouse pad which takes a little getting used to.
Batter life is very good with ~5 hours of operation doing normal tasks while connected with wifi. The wifi connects reliably and with no problems and has very good range. The screen is very easy to read. I have had my Aspire One for about a month now and I am very pleased with it.
