few options May 15, 2008 This GPS has few options and is lacking in performance compared to some others I have used and seen, but its all in what you get accustomed to using. It works but the updates seem to be non-existant.

Great GPS for the Price January 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased the Q3-13 after much review. It is not a top of the line GPS, for example it doesn't have text to voice conversion or traffic alerts, but I didn't expect those features at this price point. It does have a full set of all basic navigation features. I live in Alaska so had to have a GPS with Alaska map capability. My previous GPS (Garmin Street Pilot purchased in 2002) had an inaccurate Alaska map base. (e.g. It showed me driving in the river 800 feet from the road.) The Nextar Q3 map is spot on and even has a new bypass completed 4 years ago. I was happy it had some POI for Alaska. Rather than having to hide it while parked, you can take it with you in your shirt pocket and use it for your MP3 player. Its player feature requires a SD card and wouldn't excite a teen, but it shuffled my tunes just fine. One Alaskan problem, the suction cup doesn't work on windshields in winter, but it came with an alternate dash plate. It acquires satillites quickly and menu is intuitive. The screen is easy to view, even in sunlight, and adjusts day to night automatically. I got what I paid for and am very happy with it.
Nextar sells horrible GPS units that at 1st glance seem great December 16, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Nextar GPS looks great, has a rechargeable battery, blah, blah... but when it comes down to actually working it sucks. The 1.6million points of interest is drastically behind any other GPS unit on the market. If you dont mind following a route only to find that the map is at least 2 years out dated and the road is actually closed, then you'll love it. There have been many times that I've come to a bridge or road that has been around for 3 years+, but it doesn't show up on the map. No new home addresses are being added, and at the rate that they're being built... those of us that already got suckered into buying a Nextar are out of luck since they haven't and according to customer service, don't plan to offer any map updates at this time. Sometimes it takes the unit 5 or 10 minutes to figure out where I am, which is pretty inconvienent when it's time to leave and I don't have any clue which way to start heading while the unit sits there being usless. Thanks a lot Nextar for taking my $400 then leaving us high and dry without customer service or updates. I will never in my life buy a product from them again. It's become obosolete very quickly.
