4 out of 5 stars lots of options   November 22, 2008
I like all the separate port holes for each different card. Other card readers combined slots for different cards that sometimes makes it hard to figure out how to insert it. The construction feels a little cheep but works well.

5 out of 5 stars Great reader for the price   November 17, 2008
People should realize if a type of card isn't on the specs sheet (such as XD and Smart Media) there's a pretty darn good chance it won't be on the reader itself... Sorry, it just frustrates me when the score of such a nice card reader's brought down by such reviews.

Anyway, great card reader. I've seen reviews claiming it's one of the fastest card readers some sites have tested, and I don't doubt it. Copied a 700MB XviD file to a SDHC Class 6 card in under two minutes. The file then opens quickly and is responds quickly to clicks on the timeline. Of course the speed will only be as fast as the card being used, but these times are fine for me.

Supported formats also suite me just fine. Again, if you need XD or SmartMedia, GET ANOTHER READER! Besides that, about any Compact Flash, SD, MMC, or Memory Stick will be supported. Even miniSD, microSD, MMCmicro and M2. You may also use multiple cards at once. I currently have an SD and microSD card inserted and both are accessable. But realize you'll always have four drives visible in My Computer.

About my only complaint with this device is the sliding mechanism. What is it for? The SD card sits flush with the edge of the case when slid in, so perhaps it's to keep cards inserted while traveling? Regardless, I find it more of an annoyance to use, plus it causes the face to give a bit as you try to insert cards. While this isn't a fatal flaw, I would prefer to have the device without this siding crap. Regardless, I don't think it's worth droping the points any, so full 5-stars.

2 out of 5 stars SD slot Failed after 90 days   November 17, 2008

For awhile it worked well (I use two different cameras - one with SD and one with micro SD).

The SD slot is failing - for awhile I could "wiggle" the card and get it to read, but tonight (when I NEED to get 12-13 photos out) I cannot get it to work at all in SD slot.

So, I'm here to buy a new card reader - not this one again!

5 out of 5 stars Good product Bad service   November 12, 2008

This product seems to work fine as expected. Nothing sophisticated so there is that. However, it took the company near 25 days to deliver it. Personally i will not order from this company again.

4 out of 5 stars Works great (in Linux, too)...   November 5, 2008

This card reader is so much faster than my very old very cheap reader I'm not sure how objective of a review I can give. It's lightweight, the hide-away plug is nice, and I like the "slide-away" card port area.

It has read everything from my 16 mb (ahem) CF card to my 8 gig CF card quickly and with ease, and works without flaw in our Ubuntu Linux environment. Yes, it reads both of my 8 gig cards fine.

As a photographer and Linux user, I recommend this reader.
